As usual, there's been a lot of talk about Facebook lately -- privacy concerns, several-year-old IMs, accounts being deleted, the value of traffic, more privacy concerns, etc. So I thought it might be worthwhile to take a look at Facebook traffic to see what could be ascertained through Experian Hitwise data.

Last week, I explored the issue of how Facebook’s own “Posts By Everyone” search feature revealed people who might be sharing material they didn’t intend for the entire world to see. The results were encouraging – we’d acquired 500 followers in a short period of time and found they were actually visiting our site and engaging with us as a result. The initial results were promising enough that we kept with it, kept learning, kept testing – and we’re very glad we did.
As you probably know, Facebook has launched the newest version of their Facebook Platform last week at their third F8 conference. This new platform “puts people at the center of the web” and boosts personalization while making websites more social.
If you visit Facebook or YouTube during official hours while in the your offices, well – welcome to the club. I do that too. And guess what? It looks like everyone else are doing the same thing as study shows that both Facebook and YouTube are getting heaps of traffic from business sites.
Well once you get done patting yourself on the back for owning such a magical device you’ll no doubt want to start tweeting from it. Of course that’s easy enough right? Through the myriad of apps and web services that should be no problem right?
When these links arrived as direct messages, as viewed through the Twitter site, they were unchanged. Nothing had been altered. My understanding is that links WILL change in direct messages in the near future, however.
