SEM - it is also called Search Engine Marketing. It focuses on submitting your website, blog or web page to different search engines that can be indexed at least. Comparing the two, mostly used was SEO. Why? I have seen many webmasters and bloggers that are looking for service providers that have knowledge about SEO, and only less on SEM. About 80% to 90% of the service providers are doing SEO, while the remaining 10% to 20% are doing SEM.

Search Engine Marketing is truly easier than Search Engine Optimization. You will only submit your website manually to hundreds and thousands of search engines worldwide, and that's it. It would not affect your rankings. On the other hand, Search Engine Optimization is not easy but most of them are successful in terms of earning money in their affiliate programs.

SEO will take you time to reach your website or blog in the top rankings of Google, Yahoo and Bing. It depends on how skillful and dedicated you are, as long you always update your website or blog regularly, and expand it to other websites through the means of promotion, advertising, link exchange or link sales.

Anyone of them are useful. It's your own choice if you want SEO or SEM. Who cares? All you care is to make your website or blog a successful one.
