Today I am going to give the best way to overcome Google penalty. First of all I would suggest you all to read my previous blog "How I overcome the Google penalty for a website within 5 days?". In today's post I am going to give you more ways to overcome a Google penalty.

I have got a penalty lately for one of the websites I work. I did a serious diagonsis and found that the possible reason for the penalty is duplicate content (Different URL/Webpage indexed with same content). The search for domain name without TLD (Top Level Domain) showed my penalised website homepage around the fifties. I have been doing PPC for the domain for long and I have used URL tagging. The URL tagging feature uses GCLID (Google Click Identifier) is a globally unique tracking parameter used by Google to pass click information from Google Adwords to Google analytics. As per the Google webmaster guidelines each webmaster should block Google's AdSense ads and DoubleClick links using robots.txt file.

Step 1: I checked my Google webmaster account and found that my GCLID links are indexed.

Step 2: I checked my robots.txt and found that the Google's AdSense ads and DoubleClick links aren't blocked.

Step 3: I downloaded the robots.txt and added "Disallow" syntax for Google's AdSense ads and DoubleClick links and uploaded the new robots.txt

Step 4: I filed a Google reconsideration request.

My homepage was back in the first page of the search within 24 hours. Hope the posted helps someone in overcoming Google penalty.

Yes, it's true that most of us use Google as our primary search engine, but Microsoft still holds a reasonably significant slice of the pie. And it wants to do something to make that slice just a little bit bigger, so it makes sense to rework that user interface in hopes of attracting a few more people.

Old Bing

Shown here is the old (current) search engine results page on Bing. There's nothing wrong with it, per se, but Microsoft recognizes that it could always be improved. SE Roundtable has unearthed a new user interface and design for Bing that jazzes it up and makes it look a little more like a certain familiar friend.

New Bing

One of the more notable changes is the move of the suggested search terms from the left sidebar to underneath the main search bar. This makes a lot more sense, since a lot of users will tend to ignore the sidebar altogether unless they are looking to tweak the results. You'll also notice that the username has been replaced with a profile picture instead.

The search icon (magnifying glass) has lost its color and it looks like Bing has really cleaned up the interface in terms of colors and gradients overall. I think we'd all agree that it's starting to look a little more like Google, which can be a good thing or a bad thing. It'll be more familiar, but it also means that Bing may have a harder time differentiating itself from the elephant in the room.

What do you think? Is new Bing better than old Bing? What changes would you make to the user interface?

When it comes to search engine optimization, there is literally a never-ending list of things that you can do. Some strategies are more effective than others, but a great number of them also happen to be very time-consuming. The irony is that many people forget to take care of the little things. It's like deciding to go on a road trip, only to forget where you left the keys.

Over on Search Engine Watch, Josh McCoy has compiled a list of eight SEO tips that you can accomplish in fifteen minutes or less. Regardless of whether you have a blog, a company website, or a resource site, you'd be foolish not to go through these eight basic steps.

SEO

You'll still want to pay attention to things like keyword density and inbound deep-links, of course, but these eight simple steps are so basic that they simply should not be ignored.

The tips include such things as remembering to review your robots.txt file to see if you're withholding pages from search engines, reviewing the most frequently linked pages on your site, looking for duplicate title elements in Google Webmaster Tools, requesting anchor text changes from authority sites, and verifying your Google and Bing Local listings.

Also remember that these aren't one time activities! You should follow up periodically to make sure everything is in check. Do you have any simple SEO tips that you'd like to share? What are some of the most common mistakes you've found?

One of the website my team worked on got a Google Penalty. The possible reason for the penalty might have been external site-wide links. The first thing I did was to look for the rankings of the website in other major search engines Yahoo and Bing. The keywords were still on top on both the other search engines. The next thing was to avoid the panic situation which webmasters and SEO experts face when they see one of the websites their team work upon gets a penalty for some wrong action/wrong SEO practices. The penalty for our website might have been due to some sort of spam link building tactics done on the website. I tried to handle the situation as calm as possible. Below are the steps I took to remove the effect of the penalty.

Day 1: First thing I did on the page is to change all the file names to show new page URL thus removing the spam link effect of all previous off-page submissions done. I blocked all the old pages using robots.txt. I changed all the content in newly created pages.

Day 2: Created new Title and Meta Tags for the newly created page and uploaded the same. I also removed the old RSS feed. I then re-submitted the Sitemap.

Day 3: Send a reconsideration request to Google through webmaster tools account.

Day 5: The website has got all the SERP back and some keywords got higher SERP.

The first and the formost thing is to check whether your website is having a penalty or not. There are many ways to check the same. You can read about 10 Ways to Diagnose a Google Penalty .

Today I came across the new Google layout which they rolled out to all the Internet users. I hate the way the new menu feature appeared in Google new search engine layout. The factor that I hate is that the search bar is on left side. I would suggest them to put the same on the right side after Sponsored links. If they put in the right side then it is going to help Google is maintaing the clean look atleast at the top.

I am impressed by some of the new features that I saw in their menu. The features like page previews, sites with images etc as Internet surfers can easily get a feel on which website to enter and which not to enter. Is this feature going to improve search results ?. I think it will improve the search results as traffic to websites will now be based more on website layout rather than just the search engine result page rankings. The big question now is that Google is not having the preview of all the websites in the search engine result pages. So how will Google overcome this ? How often will Google update page previews.

Google - Cijo Abraham Mani

It is now time the designers need to spend much time to the websites to improve the overall look and feel of the whole websites they work for. Now is the time for the SEO's to come up with their innovative ideas about website layout. My suggestion to all would be to focus on a clean layout which looks pretty good.

Is Google's new search engine layout similar to Bing? What is your suggestion about Google new search engine layout ?Do you really feel that Google has made a wrong move ?

Will Google change the layout back to the previous clean layout ?

Please post your comments about Google's new layout.
