Article > Information on links for SEO

Here is some useful information about the links for search engine optimisation.

The good links

You get these links without paying anything or without trying any special technique. They are one-way links and are the result of resources and quality content. If you are looking for a safe method to build links then this is by far, the safest you can get.

Search engines often consider the intent behind any links, these links are the result of content, and that is what makes them safe. However, they take the longest time. If you have a new website then you can submit it to web directories in your niche. Begin with some reputable directories.

While you are at it, limit them to about 10 to 15 per cent of the total links that they provide. You should never neglect any directories that are specific to your industry. Most often, they will direct some really targeted traffic and hence, can be quite useful.

The creative links

This is linkbaiting. You have to be creative with these and hence, they are not that easy. However, having said that, they are just as much worth all your efforts. Linkbaiting means creating content, images, and videos or just about anything with a view of obtaining more links. It is quite effective for obtaining links and based upon the price of your “bait,” it is also the cheapest. All the links appear to be natural and hence, you will not face any negative action from search engines.

The money links

Now, these links will require you to pay for them. They are the paid links and you can benefit a lot from them, at least for a short period. They work well for well-established sites that have been here for several years and have lots of content pages. Being in business for many years, these website will also have several natural links.

I would not recommend paid links for any new website. You can look for such websites that are closer to your topic or even in any complementary niches. Age is an important factor when uating these links.

The bad links

These are the links that will cost you dearly if you do not take care. Outbound links are very important to search engines when they are determining your “neighbourhood.” It is important you stay in good neighbourhood because bad ones often affect your page rankings. Stuff such as FFA link pages or free for all, links farms, fall among the bad neighbourhood. While if you have them in a small number then it will not affect you, however, you should always ensure that your website is not related to these link patterns in any way.
